How to be heard

This is a public decision, made in public meetings, on a record that anyone may add to. Support, opposition and questions all count, and all of them count more in writing than in a conversation nobody wrote down.

Where this stands

Since we submitted an updated petition in May 2026, two things have happened so far on case PB-2020-17. The hearing dates ahead have not been set, and this site will not guess at them — when the City advertises a hearing, the advertisement is the thing to rely on.

  1. July 7, 2026

Application determined complete by the City

  2. August 27, 2026

    Community open house

Speaking or writing to the record

There are three ways to be part of this decision, and they are not equally weighted. Written comment enters the record permanently. Speaking at the hearing is heard by the people voting. A conversation at an open house is neither.

Write to the City

The City’s Planning & Zoning Department receives written comment on this application. In the City’s own words:

Written comments and evidence may be mailed to the Planning & Zoning Department on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 302 W Reynolds Street, Plant City, Florida 33563 or submitted via email to planning@plantcitygov.com.

Separately, and not on the page quoted above: the City Clerk’s office has asked that anything emailed to the Planning & Zoning Department also be sent to cityclerk@plantcitygov.com. Send email comments to both addresses.

Put case PB-2020-17 at the top of anything you send, so that it is filed against the right application. The department’s phone number is (813) 659-4258 and its office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City asks for comments “up to five business days in advance of the advertised public hearing date.” That clock runs from the advertised date, so watch for the advertisement.

Speak at the hearing

Public hearings include time for public comment. Speakers are normally asked to give their name and address and are held to a time limit. Written comment submitted in advance is entered into the record whether or not you attend, and attending does not require speaking.

Say it in your own words

Whatever your position, a comment in your own words carries further than a form letter. If you want golf back, say what it would mean. If you support adding new community amenities and homes, preserving substantial open space, and making significant stormwater improvements, say so. Specifics are what a record is for.

Ask us directly

If something on this site is unclear, wrong, or does not answer your question, say so. A question that has to be asked twice is a failure of this website, not of the person asking.

Send a message

Your message is emailed to Walden Lake, LLC and nowhere else. It is not stored in a database, added to a mailing list, or shared. There is no tracking on this site.

So we can reply. Nothing else.

Optional. It helps to know which part of Walden Lake a message comes from.
